God foretold through Jeremiah (and other prophets) that he would watch over his people even when they were scattered in exile. These same prophecies said that God would bring them back to their home (Israel/Judah) in the future, and that God would make a New Covenant in the more distant future, and that God would bring all his people to their true home in the ultimate future when Jesus returns to redeem his people - it will be an over-the-top, unimaginable future - our destiny.

In the Old Testament as well as the New Testament, God moved with compassion towards the broken, needy, sick, and lost. In fact, the laws God gave Israel mandated compassion. Even a casual reading of the New Testament showed that compassion was a continual theme present in Jesus' ministry. Like Jesus, when we see physical and spiritual needs, we should also feel compassion and do something about them - even if all we can do is pray. When we pray, we should be prepared to be part of the answer to our prayers. Without compassion, we cannot have an unshakable life.

Generosity is about much more than giving -- it's about perspective. If you do not see your gifts, talents, wealth, and possessions as blessings entrusted to you by God then you will not see yourself as a steward of those blessings. Without that perspective, it will be impossible for you to be faithful with those blessings - to use them for His Kingdom and glory. Without unshakable generosity, you will not have an unshakable life, and when the winds blow, the rains fall, and the floods rise, your life will crumble.

Every single one of us deals with sin every day: our own sins as well as those of others. What Karl Menninger said is true: if we lose the concept of sin from our culture, then any hope of a moral society would completely disappear. Because as soon as you say there is no sin – then there’s no reason to repent, there’s no reason to change, and there’s no reason for a Savior. And when you believe all these lies, you’re blindly walking toward a cliff where you will fall into the abyss.

A life of devotion to God is lived out NOT by what we do for God, but by what we do for one another because we love Him.

A big part of The Unshakable Life is being on mission to help others find and follow Jesus. Accepting this mission is to respond to the threefold call - the call to be a disciple, the call to deny oneself, and the call to go.

We were all created by God and for God. We were also created with a hunger for God. Just like we can satisfy our physical hunger with healthy food or junk food, we can also seek to satisfy our spiritual hunger with God, who satisfies, or with other options, which leave us spiritually starved.

"Church" isn't a building, it is an assembly into which Jesus Christ has called and drawn his followers. It's a divine, God-centered, other-oriented community that is about glorifying the One True King, Jesus Christ, and making disciples. The church catalyzes the change that God's Word, prayer, and worship forge in us.

You can go to church, say all the right things, and make it look like you have it all together. You can be successful in many ways, making money, making your marriage work, win awards, and be popular. But it is impossible to live the Christian life (walk the Jesus way) without the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. The organic work of the Spirit of God in you follows your intentional choice of love, loyalty, and surrender, creating the right conditions in you for the Holy Spirit to work in you and through you.

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat where she ought to go. The secret to knowing where you're going is found in repentance. "Repent" is a very "religious" word that most people don't understand. Turning away from idols and our sinful ways and turning toward Jesus Christ and his holy ways actually helps us orient our lives and enables us to understand where we're going.

Jesus asked his disciples, "Who do you say I am?" This is the most important question you will ever answer because all your decisions and your life depend on how you answer it. The Bible tells us very clearly that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, meaning he is God in the flesh - he is Lord, he is King, and since he is all that, our response to him is complete surrender.

THE UNSHAKABLE STORY
We're all sinners, but through God's love, grace, and mercy, we see how our story fits in His story. When we understand the unshakable story, it makes us The Unshakables.

THE UNSHAKABLE LIFE
The storm rose against the house but it couldn't be shaken because it was built upon the rock. You too can build an unshakable life (not a storm-free life). Everyone suffers the storms, the floods, and the blasts of life - building your life upon Jesus and his words enables you to stand and remain stable and balanced when calamity hits.
